We recognize we have been hurt, disappointed, or abused by religion or the religious. -Step One Continued
Instruction: Ask to be protected. One mistake we don’t want to make is to go from one negative religious experience into another negative religious experience. It is as if our “picker” were broken when it comes to choosing a religion, and we end up in an environment similar to the one we left. For some people, it might be wise to take a break from religion for a period of time to evaluate what you want and can expect from a religious environment, as well as what you don’t want. For those who believe in angels, spirit guides, and other forms of help, including direct help from the Universe, this next instruction is to ask those guides for their help, specifically in the form of protection. Ask your angels, your spirit guides, Divine Spirit, or whatever name you use for a higher power to put a bubble of protection around you and guide your religious choices so they are compatible with your spiritual course. Remember that spirituality and religion are not the same. Religion is man-made and can be good or bad. Spirituality is our connection with that-which-is-greater than we are. Request protection daily and as often as you think of it. An open mind and a willingness to hear is paramount to success, but when we’ve learned to ask for protection, we will find that situations, circumstances, and synchronicities will come together to guide and protect us.
