Wayne Talks About Patrick
Patrick, co-founder of Religious Recovery, is an ex-cult member who was born into a strict religious organization and remained with that group until his teenage years. When he left the church of his birth, he was in for a rude awakening. Although the church he had attended taught about unconditional love, he soon learned that love didn't apply to those who left the flock. The abuse and loss he suffered left him in emotional and spiritual pain. Patrick has a heart for those who have suffered at the hands of religion but especially for those who have been injured by a cult. Patrick says:
"A person's beliefs should not be dictated to them, but rather they should have the freedom to choose what they believe or don't believe."

Patrick talks about Wayne.
Like me, Wayne experienced a lot of emotional trauma due to his time spent in a hardline religion. He realized, once he broke free from it, that life has so much more to offer and that he need not rely on religion to lead a fulfilling and happy life. He has spent much time and effort creating the steps for Religious Recovery that will lead to a better spiritual journey for those that follow them. Wayne is a caring and understanding individual that truly cares for and sympathizes with those who have been abused, in one form or another, by religion or the religious. Together, we hope to help others break free of their religious chains and to continue their journey through life free of all the hang-ups and baggage that so many experience after leaving a suppressive environment. Wayne says:
"I want to help people understand that religion and spirituality are not always the same. A person can be spiritual without being religious, and if religion gets in the way of our understanding of The Divine, then we must follow where love leads--not rules or doctrines."
